Nishad gave me this idea of not using phone. The Sagar vai (Before his job) was man of email and fb message. I liked the idea very much.
Lets use the problem solving approach to find a alternative of mobile phone:
Needs of mobile phone:
a. Super Instant Voice Communication (Phone call)
b. SMS
c. needless longtime talk with people (who loves to do that)
d. Alarm Clock
e. Email / Web / twitter on the go
f. Helps me not use a Land phone
Alternative thinking :
a. Super Instant Voice Communication (Phone call)
With whom I talk /what alternative options I have:
1. Family
—> My family(without my sister) don’t use Internet on a regular basis. Most of the time, they make a phone call for any need. Not using a Phone will create a big problem. SMS response is not solution for them.
–> problems like: Open the door and any emergency needs a 1o0% functional phone.
Alternative: Unknown
2. Classmates
–> Most of them use email/Gtalk/Google Doc but for a urgent work then need the phone.
Alternative: Email ~ SMS type of application will help! but is not a good alternative.
3. Local service providers (Internet / Bank etc)
–> if internet is dead, I need a phone to notify them.
Alternative: Land Phone / others mobile phone
4. Local clients / office co-workers
Alternative: Email / wave / google doc can change.
5. Friends
–> who calls over phone likes talk on phone, no matter they use fb/ gtalk/skype or not.
Alternative:
Call: Land Phone (it will be voice communication but not super instance)
Receive: Unknown
b. SMS
Email and facebook is not an alternative with whom I use SMS. I don’t SMS those guys, who use FB/email.
Alternative :
– SEND : send form web to sms application to send .
–Receive : Unknown
c. Needless longtime talk with people (who loves to do that)
– I think I’ll miss that but I can stop that without any alternative
Alternative: Land Phone
d. Alarm Clock
Alternative: I’ll use other alarm clock and watch
e. Email / Web / twitter on the go
Alternative: Not use it on the GO (that’s less than 10hours in a week)
f. Helps me not use a Land phone
Alternative: IP PHONE (but it does not work when you net is down, or no power )
– Not 100% replaceable
Lets have list of 10 mobile phone alternative:
1. Gmail / Gtalk / Skype
- Clients
- family abroad who don’t use Facebook
- Classmates
2. FaceBook
- for my “Just” Friends
- My Facebook Friends
- My “good” Friends
—-> OK “Friends and family who are in facebook”
3. Google Wave / Docs
– Office
– Classmates
But it does not solves all my problem, so I have to have a phone.
please help me to find out some solution / alternative for any of them, it will be great help.
